Travel Guide: New Caledonia

New Caledonia
New Caledonia is the third largest island in the Pacific after Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. It is located south of Melanesia (Oceania). 500 km long by 50 wide, New Caledonia offers an infinite variety of landscapes; from the finest beaches of white sand to the most spectacular mountain landscapes. A French land in the Pacific Ocean, an original land with seaside and mountain landscapes harbouring a great number of endemic species, New Caledonia has the largest lagoon in the world for scuba diving and water sports. The accommodation available ranges from campsites to 5-star hotels, and tribal gites. Varied excursions are suggested on Grande Terre and in the islands. New Caledonia offers a mosaic of Melanesian, European, Asia and Oceanic cultures which coexist in perfect harmony, with a little taste of paradise.
